Does my subscription automatically renew?
Yes, payments are automatically set to renew with your subscription upon purchase.
Why does my subscription automatically renew?
Cycling '74 has a variety of different customers with different artistic and creative needs. The automatic renewal is in place to avoid unnecessary disruption of a customer's experience with Max and RNBO.
How many machines can an individual subscription authorize?
You may authorize up to 3 computers, as long as only one machine is running Max/RNBO at a time.
How does authorization work for a subscription?
Subscription licenses are authorized with the standard internet authorization used for regular Max 7 (or later) licenses. After your payment is processed, your computer can be authorized as long as it's connected to the internet.
How long is the subscription?
We offer monthly or annual subscription options. Both subscriptions automatically renew until you choose to cancel them.
Can my subscription payments be put toward the price of a permanent license?
No, subscription payments are not considered a payment plan. A traditional payment plan is for a specific version of the software, whereas a Max subscription includes free upgrades to the latest version of Max.
When am I charged for my monthly subscription?
Your credit card will be charged on the same day of the month as your original purchase. If you purchased on the 10th, your credit card will be charged again on the 10th of the next month.
There is one exception: If your original purchase was on the 31st of any month, your credit card will be charged on the last day of the following months. If the last day is the 30th, then the following charge will be the 30th as well.
Can I purchase a subscription for a computer that's not connected to the internet?
When you first purchase a monthly subscription, your computer must be connected to the internet to receive the authorization. Your computer will be authorized offline for up to 30 days before you need to connect to the internet again. If your computer will never be connected to the internet, we recommend purchasing a regular license as this would be a better option for you instead of a subscription.
Annual subscriptions will authorize for 180 days before needing an internet connection.
How do I cancel my Max subscription?
From within the Max Application :
- Go to Help > User Account and Licenses.
- Next to your subscription, click on the "+"
- A menu will appear with your purchasing information.
- Select the link that says, "View Account Info".
- Navigate to the "Subscriptions" tab in your account. You will see your active and inactive subscriptions.
- To cancel an active subscription, click on the "Manage" button.
- A drop-down menu will appear prompting you to either "Update Your Payment Method" or "Cancel".
- Select "Cancel".
From Account Link :
You can request a link to access your account here. The system will then ask you to enter the email address where you received your receipt (this can also be the email address associated with your Cycling '74 account). A confirmation email will be sent to you that will provide a link to manage your orders. From the link, you will be directed to your account information.
- Navigate to the "Subscriptions" tab in your account. You will see your active and inactive subscriptions.
- To cancel an active subscription, click on the "Manage" button.
- A drop-down menu will appear prompting you to either "Update Your Payment Method" or "Cancel".
- Select "Cancel".
You can also access your account from the "Your Receipt" email by clicking on the "Manage Orders" link.
Max 7 customers, follow the instructions above from this link or from the "Your Order" email.
From the email, click on the link below the subscription item you ordered. You can either "Edit Subscription" or "Cancel Subscription".
How do I cancel my RNBO subscription?
When purchasing a RNBO license, whether as an add-on to an existing Max license or as a Max + RNBO bundle, that RNBO license becomes linked to the Max license. As a result, if you wish to cancel just the RNBO portion of your subscription, you must cancel the entire subscription (Max + RNBO), then purchase a new subscription that is Max only. For details on how to cancel a subscription, please see this page. Alternatively, you may contact us at sales@cycling74.com with a request to cancel just the RNBO portion of your subscription, and we will take care of it.
How do I update my billing information?
From within the Max Application :
- Go to Help > User Account and Licenses.
- Next to your subscription, click on the "+"
- A menu will appear with your purchasing information.
- Select the link that says, "View Account Info".
- Navigate to the "Subscriptions" tab in your account. You will see your active and inactive subscriptions.
- To cancel an active subscription, click on the "Manage" button.
- A drop-down menu will appear prompting you to either "Update Your Payment Method" or "Cancel".
- Select "Update Your Payment Method".
From Account Link :
You can request a link to access your account here. - Navigate to the "Account Details and Payment Methods" tab.
- To add a different payment method, click on the "Add Payment Method" button.
- A drop-down menu will appear with Credit/Debit and Paypal options. You may apply this new payment method to all subscriptions.
- To remove a previous payment method, click on the "Manage" button and select "Remove".
- To change your address stay on the "Account Details and Payment Methods" tab and click the "Edit" button located underneath your address.
- A form will appear that will allow you to update your billing address. Note that you can not update your email address on this form.
Max 7 customers, follow the instructions above from this link or from the "Your Order" email.

What if I already own an older version of Max?
You may either purchase an upgrade or choose to change to a subscription. In most cases, the upgrade is the favored option for people who already own a permanent version of Max.
What if an upgrade is released during my subscription period?
You will get all updates and upgrades at no additional cost for the duration of your subscription.
Is the subscription version different from a permanent license?
No, a subscription has the same features and functionality as a permanent license.
Are permanent licenses still available for sale?
Yes, the subscription model is completely optional.
