How do I purchase RNBO?
RNBO may be purchased via our web store. If you already own a Max 8 or 9 license, you can purchase RNBO as an add-on to that license. If you do not own Max 8 or 9, you can purchase Max + RNBO together.
Please note that RNBO is only compatible with Max 8.5 or later. You cannot purchase RNBO for previous versions of Max.
Before purchasing, create or sign in to your Cycling '74 user account on our website. Your account will automatically receive the RNBO license and authorization after your purchase.
How much does RNBO cost?
We offer permanent licenses, annual subscriptions, and monthly subscriptions for RNBO, as well as student discounts. Please visit our shop to learn more about pricing options.
What is an add-on license?
RNBO is considered an add-on license because it cannot exist without a Max 8.5 (or later) license. RNBO is automatically bundled with Max 8.5 (or later), which allows you to use it in demo mode. However, in order to be able to save RNBO patches you must purchase a RNBO license.
Can I add RNBO to an already active Max subscription?
Yes. If you already own a monthly or annual Max subscription, you may purchase RNBO as an add-on to that subscription. Visit our web store, sign in with the Cycling '74 account that contains your Max subscription, then you should see an option to purchase RNBO as an add-on. If you are already partway through your subscription, the payment for adding RNBO will be pro-rated. For example, if you are 3 months into your annual (12-month) Max subscription, you will only be charged for 9 months of RNBO. When your subscription automatically renews, you will be charged the full amount for Max + RNBO.
How do I purchase the RNBO add-on for my Student Max license?
If you already own a Student Max license, whether that be a permanent or annual subscription license, you can add on a RNBO license via our shop. Navigate to our web store, sign in with the Cycling '74 account that contains your Student Max license, then you should see a drop-down menu titled "Select an eligible license to add RNBO to". If you select a Student license, you should see the option to add RNBO at the discounted student rate.
If you encounter any difficulties, please contact us at sales@cycling74.com.
I own multiple Max licenses. How do I select a specific license to add RNBO to?
In our web store you will be able to select which license you want to add RNBO to. Visit our web store, sign in with the Cycling '74 account that contains your Max license (version 8, 9, or a subscription), then you should see a drop-down menu titled "Select an eligible license to add RNBO to". Select the desired license, then continue with your purchase.
If you encounter any difficulties, please contact us at sales@cycling74.com.
Can I add a subscription RNBO license to my full Max license?
No. When purchasing RNBO as an add-on, the type of license must be identical to your Max license. If you own a full Max license, you can only add on a full RNBO license. If you own an annual Max subscription, you can only add on an annual RNBO subscription, etc. If you own a permanent Max license, but only require a RNBO license for a short period of time, you may purchase an additional Max + RNBO subscription license and cancel that subscription when you are finished using RNBO.
Can I add RNBO to a Max 7 (or earlier) license?
No. RNBO is only compatible with Max 8.5 or later. If you own a previous version of Max, you can upgrade to Max 9 and purchase a RNBO license via our web store. Please see below for upgrade instructions.
Can I upgrade to Max 9 and purchase RNBO at the same time?
Yes. In our web store, when purchasing an upgrade license you will have the option to add on RNBO.
Please note that Max 7 and 8 licenses do not have serial numbers. To upgrade a Max 7 or 8 license, navigate to our web store, sign in with the Cycling '74 account that contains your license, then you should see a drop-down menu titled "Select a license to upgrade". Select the desired license, check "Add RNBO", then continue with your purchase.
Max 6 and earlier licenses do have serial numbers that are required to purchase an upgrade. If you are upgrading from Max 6 (or earlier) and cannot find your serial number, e-mail your full name and any alternate email addresses you may have used for your purchase to support@cycling74.com. We will locate your serial number and send it to you to use for the upgrade.
Can I add RNBO to a Max for Live license?
No. RNBO is considered an add-on license to a standalone Max license. You cannot purchase RNBO as an add-on to Live Suite or Max for Live. If you only own Live Suite or Max for Live (not the standalone Max application), you will be able to open and edit RNBO patches within the context of Max for Live, but you cannot save a RNBO patch or export to any targets.
If you own a standalone Max license in addition to Max for Live, you will be able to open, edit, and export RNBO patches within the context of Max for Live, but you cannot save a RNBO patch.
If you own it all (standalone Max, RNBO, and Max for Live), you will be able to open, edit, save, and export RNBO patches within the context of Max for Live.
